Is it necessary to have more than 6 months validity on passport for 5 hr transit in beijing airport

No, 6 months passport is not required for a transit.

Many thanks Alvin, every other avenue I tried kept telling me I did not need a visa, but nobody would answer my question about passport validity. Many thanks much appreciated.

you can still use the passport, 6 months validity is only required if you apply for visa
