About:China Visa

do i need a hotel reservation for my entire stay for a visa application in Shanghai?

My brother lives and works in shanghai and I am visiting him for 13 days with my mother. We plan to stay with him for part of the time but is it better to have a hotel reservation for the visa application? Do i need to have a reservation for my entire time in china for the visa application?

If you have invitation letter from your brother, and include accommodation information in the letter, it is ok for you to apply without hotel reservation. Make sure provide flight ticket, proof of kinship, and copies of your brother's passport, work permit and residence permit.

A hard copy invitation would be better.

Hello I am Married to my Chinese wife and living in Shanghai let me help you with this too well as Aiden mention a letter proving accommodation is a must as well as his copy of his work permit will helpful too and remember hard copy is the best because Chinese embassy dnt accept 2 copies

you should have hard copy plus photocopy of his work permit and living details etc and work address etc

l am in china and l was invited so l produced at embassy official docs..official invitation, official front page of her passport, copy of the visa, work permit number and make photo copies of everything..works alot better like that

oh l forgot, upon arrival you need to register with police bureau and if he is living in an apt, to register with them with in 24 hours..you don't know what is going to happen..l lost my apssport in first 10 days..thank God, l followed that procedure otherwise it would have been very bad for me..and l needed those registeration docs to get an exit visa
