About:China Transit Visa

Do I need a visa to transfer through two airports in China on my way to Australia ?

Here is my flight details.

Departure Arrival
Amsterdam 27-Dec, 16:30 Xiamen 28-Dec, 10:50
Xiamen 28-Dec, 22:25 Guangzhou 28-Dec, 11:35
Guangzhou 29-Dec, 08:20 Sydney 29-Dec, 20:40

And here is my flight back schedule.
Departure Arrival

Sydney 22-Jan, 2013, 10:50 Guangzhou 22-Jan, 17:30
Guangzhou 22-Jan, 2013, 23:55 Amsterdam 23-Jan

P.S:
All flights cared out by China Southern Airlines and KLM and I will stay at the airport.
As you can see if we count the time from the arriving day in Xiamen until leaving Guangzhou is about 21 hours. So it is less then 24 hours in China. If we count days it is 2 days.Do I need a visa?

I asked KLM and they said, we usually send your luggage directly to Sydney and you don't need a visa but it depends on the Airport ,if they do not send your luggage directly, means you need to check it in again and this may require a visa. So what can I do,please give me a clear answer and thank you.

I don't think you need any visa for this.

Hi Fiona

Thank you for the reply but can you explain more?
I would like to read some obvious and a clear answer, please.

I just want to know what they mean by saying,...

(Transit visas are not required for aliens in immediate transit on connected international flight who hold passenger tickets and transit through two or more than two cities in China within 24 hours.)

If you just read again my previous sentences.Do they count days or they only count hours for me.As you can see I will be in China at the airport for 2 days from 28-Dec till 29-Dec,so theoretically speaking it is 48 hours and not 24 hours. Can you see this dilemma?

Please can ask some officials in the control area I will be really grateful.Thank you again.

Dear Firas, they count hours. So, it is within 24 hours from the time you arrive at Xiamen and leave from Guangzhou. Visa is not required as well for your flight back to Amsterdam. Anyway, you'd better contact the airlines for more information.

I contacted the airline lines and they said there is no standard policy there and don't believe in every words they say in their official site. The real policy is,in the airports and they do not follow standard rules,so the best way to get out of a bad expected situation they advise me to apply for a visa.Honestly I will never travel through China again.I made a mistake and next time I will go through Dubai. Thanks anyway.
