About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Transit in Guangzhou for 12 hours

I have just book my flights throu a travel agent to go via Guangzhou to LA with China Southern Airlines. on our way home to Perth we have a 12 hr layover in Guangzhou. We have been told by the travel agent that we CANNOT leave the airport Even if we want to go to a hotel or just a look around. Do we have to appy for a transit Visa?

If you want to go out of the airport to the city, you need to apply for a transit visa in advance. Or, you can stay in a hotel inside of the airport.
