About:Foreign Embassies & Consulates in China

On the Visa Application Form, what's the difference between Inviter and the Guarantor?

I'm going to visit a friend in Japan, I'll apply for touristic visa.
My mother will be my financially responsible for the trip and I'll stay on my friend's apartment in Tokyo
So, in my situation:

Guarantor: my mother
Inviter: my friend.

Is that right?
