About:China Train

travel early from Beijing to Xi an by rail

I was wondering if there were any trains running from Beijing to Xi an that travel during the day. I would like to see the counry side on the way. Also arriving the same day would be helpful for my hotel booking.

Yes, there are. You can take D131, which departs from Beijing at 10:01 and arrives in Xian at 19:25 and will take you about 9.5 hrs.
