About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

I'm a US citizen flying Narita to Kathmandu via Shanghai & Kunming (overnight). Do I need visa?

I reside in Japan. Flight will have a 12 hour + layover in Kunming overnight. Flight is 4 Nov with return 8 Nov. Reservations on China Eastern Airline.

I think you will go out of the airport to have a rest at a hotel during the transit, right? Then you do need a visa.
