Travelling with a dog

I will be travelling with a dog in Dec 2012. I will be transferring from a flight from BKK to a flight to YVR on AirCanada. My dog will be flying as carry-on luggage. Will it be okay to carry him in the airport in his container while transferring planes without going into quarantine?

Actually, as for the animal taken into China needs strict check or examine. So your dog may don't need to be checked through the quarantine. But the customs staff will give him or her a detailed medical check.

Do you have a phone number so that I could call the airport and ask what would happen? Do you think it would be the same if my dog were to travel as checked baggage? I will pick him up in PVG so that he can travel as carry-on for my flight to Vancouver?
