Correct Visa for 60 day stay in Shanghai twice per year

I will be using Shanghai as my base for travel in Asia for 60 days twice per year. I would like to bring my cats when I come but I have read that this requires a Z resident Visa. Is that correct? I currently have a multi entry Visa. I will be staying in a service apartment and I am aware of the 7 day mandantory quarantine.

No, this does not require a Z resident visa. In addition to the proper entry visa you have now, you are also required to show two documents for the pet: Animal Health Certificate and Vaccination Certificate. But be note that your cats will be kept in a quarantine station for 7 days or maybe longer.
