About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Do Sri Lankan passport holders need visa to China?

I am a Sri Lanka passport holder with perment redency in Japan.
I plan to got to Sri Lanka vis Shanghi(one night stay) and come back through Shanghi.
Do I need visa.
I read recent news that China and Sri Lanka signed no visa treaty recenly in Colombo.
Kindly let me know about this.

Hi, you may misread the news, they indeed signed an agreement, but it only apply to holders of diplomatic, service, official, or public affairs passports from either country to visit the other without visa. If both your ways are transit in Shanghai without leaving the airport, no visa is required. Otherwise, you have to apply for a China transit visa in advance.
