materials for a semi-new fashion designer

Hi,
i will be in Guangzhou within a couple of weeks, mainly looking for materials for fashion design (fabrics, zippers, appliques, tickerts, buttons...). not talking about large quantities, but still wholsale quantities
do i need a local guide to find my way in there or there are large markets in which i can find everything and even without a local guide (i am paying on the spot and taking what i am buying on the spot)
