Domestic transfer within China

Hello, my friend and I are heading to Nepal. Our flights are from Melbourne - Shanghai - Kunming - Kathmandu. Do we need to apply for a VISA for our domestic flight? We have a 9hour stopover in Kunming before our flight to KAthmandu but we don't plan on leaving the airport.
We are both New Zealand Passport holders

Visa is not required if you will not leave the airport, and depart from China within 24 hours (two stopovers together). However, you need to apply for a Stay Permit when you transit at the first stopover in Shanghai airport.
