Invitation letter: Date of exit?

Do you need to write the date of exit in the invitation letter? And how specific must the itinerary be?

I plan on travelling with my girlfriend without buying a return ticket and without knowing for sure where to go. Is that a problem?

And how do we give proof of our relationship?

If you can not provide return ticket and hotel booking, you need to provide an invitation letter from a China travel agency. Or if you know anyone in China, you can ask him/her for the invitation letter. It should include your purpose of the visit, date of arrival and leaving, places to visit in China, relationship between you and the inviter, and who will bear the cost. Also details info of the inviter: such as name, phone number, address, seal and signature. It is ok to travel with your girlfriend to China, proof of relationship is not necessary.
