Can I buy train ticket from Nanning to Chengdu in the day of travel?

well, I'll take the train from Hanoi, Vietnam to Nanning, arrive at the local railway station around 10ham. After that, can I buy a ticket to chengdu in the day of travel (depart at afternoon) ?
