Which part of the Great Wall is the best place to go if I am travelling from Imperial Palace?  Mutianyu or Pataling?

I suggest you go to visit Badaling Great Wall. From Imperial Palace, you can take Bus No. 5 at Tiananmen Square East or Tiananmen West, get off at Deshengmen and then take Bus No. 877, 919 or 880 to Badaling.
