I require a certified copy of my passport for my China business banking. I was told it is only acceptable if it is certified at my local Chinese Consulate, which is in Manchester, UK. Is this something I can do same day? Please advice on the procedure and fee. I will be in Manchester on Thursday morning and wondered if I could drop in and have this done whilst I wait? Thanks.

Hi Helen, the normal service takes 5 working days at Chinese consulate in Manchester. I am afraid they do not provide express service or urgent service.

Further to my previous post, please advice:1. Is it necessary to make an appointment, or if I can just drop my passport in?2. Which office would I need to attend, as I note you have two?3. What is the fee?4. Is there an online application form I should complete?5. Can this be done by post or only in person?Many thanks.

Appointment is not required, you can submit your application within working hours to the consulate of PRC in Manchester at Denison House, 71 Denison Road, Rusholme.  Fee is ￡23. Applications can be submitted in person or through a courier, but a power of attorney is required. Application by post is not accepted. You need to complete a legalization application form. It is available at request at Visa office of Chinese consulate, or to download at their official website.
