About:China Visa

visa for transfer between airports in Shanghai

I travel from Russia to Hongqiao (via Beijing), and fly to Vietnam from Pudong, in one day.
Do I need a Chinese visa to take subway or shuttle-bus between airports?

Yes, you do have to apply for a China transit visa for this.

Than what about this rule from Timatic?
TWOV (Transit Without Visa):
Visa required, except for Holders of confirmed onward tickets
for a max. transit time of 24 hours. Transit
incl. two stops within China (People's Rep.) is permitted.

Hi Liu, yes, passengers by international flight who hold onward tickets do not require a visa provided that they stay in the airport transit area and depart within 24 hours. But if you transit in two cities in China, you need to either apply for a China transit visa in advance or apply for a Stay Permit from General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection during your first stopover in Beijing.

Want to say some words about my trip.
We fly to Beijing (T2), gave to officer our passports and e-tickets to Shanghai & Vietnam, then he pressed 2 stamps in our passports, without visas, and we were can go everywhere, not only in transit zone. Then we go to T3, fly from this terminal to Shanghai (SHA), go for a walk in the city (Bund, Nanjing Lu e.t.c.), and at the evening were arrive to Pudong (PVG), register to flight and fly to Vietnam.
All it we do WITHOUT chinese visa, but our travel was less then 24 hours.
