About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

What kind of visa do I need for my son's wedding in Shanghi?

My son and I are both US citizens. He lives in Shanghi, China and his wedding is October 27th to a Chinese citizen. My Mother and I intend to fly over for the wedding and reception. Do we need a visa and if so what kind do we need? We will be staying with my son so do we need a letter of invention stating that we will be staying with him? Also the health insurance question they ask...I have state insurance called Iowa Care, will that allow me into China? So confused as I have not been out of the US in over nearly 30 years.
