About:Chinese Embassy in Philippines

Do I need a visa if I am only staying for 5 days with US Passport?

My mother gifted me a round airfare ticket and I decided to used it to go to Shanghai, China since I have a free hotel stay there courtesy of my sister but Do I still need to get a visa for me and my 10 years old son for tourism purposes for 5 days? Thanks!
