About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Where to apply?

Can a foreigner living in Japan apply at the Embassy or must one apply at a travel agent? I can find no mention of this on this on the embassy website. The travel agent I went to charged twice the Embassy price. Do all agents charge the same?

It was extremely annoying as I live far from the Embassy, so going there and back home when I could have gone to a travel agent near my home wasted a day

Yes, you must apply through a travel agency. It is the same case if apply for a Japanese visa in Japan. That is true as well the agency may charge double than visa fee.
