About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

What documents are required for non-Japanese permament residence for a tourist visa to China?

The travel agency says bank account details and certificate of employment is needed. Is this true for permanent residents too? Just for a tourist visa?

I haven't find bank account details and certificate of employment are listed in the requirements for China L visa application on the official website of the China Emabssy in Japan, but the policy may be changed, since the infomation on the official website was updated on Dec. 7, 2011. You can try to contact the visa office of the embassy directly to make a confirmation yourself if you are afraid of being cheated by the travel agency.
