About:Chinese Consulate in San Francisco

any new requirements to apply for visa, such as invitation letter or copy of Chinese ID?

I overheard starting 8/1/2012, there is new requirement for applying a Chinese visa that I need to supply an invitation letter from Chinese and the copy of Chinese ID card from the person who invite me. I'm a US citizen, originally from China.
