i am australian how do i get the visa for 10 days in hainan?

I am planning to travel with my wife and the informations are so confusing.So can we apply for a tourist visa at the airport or not?And with the visa  can we go to  the mainland China?

Yes, you can apply for a China tourist visa upon arrival at Hainan island. With the visa, you can visit mainland China as well. BTW,  if you travel to Hainan Province as a group (at least 5 members) organised by International Travel Agencies that have been set up and registered in Hainan Province, you are free from visa for up to 21 days.
