Recent rainy weather in China

Hello,
We will be visiting Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin and Shanghai starting August 6, and are concerned about the extreme rainy weather lately, particularly in Beijing.
Any recommendations as to what to expect? Should we pack mostly rain gear?

Thanks

Do not worry about it. It is not that bad when you come to visit. The most important things for you are the sunglasses, the suncream and the short sleeved clothes. Besides, you still need to pack some rain gear in case of the rain days when you travel.

Hi Maria,
I just returned from china and visited the same cities you are going to visit.
I left Beijing 6 hours before the rain came and followed the local situation on the Chineese TV during my visit.

At this moment there is no great issue in Beijing, the water has disappeared by now.
Always take an umbrella with you for protection for rain and sun.
It is extremely hot, between 35 and 40 deg. C.
Have fun and enjoy this beautiful trip,
Herman.
