About:Power Plugs / Sockets in China

American and Korean electronics

I am planning to take my Kindle (US) and my Samsung Galaxy SII (Korea), and I don't know what voltages they are respectively able to handle. Do you think it is safe to plug them in?

Hi,the electricity in China is generally 220V, 50HZ, AC (Hong Kong is 200V; Taiwan is 110V). Thus, a transformer may be necessary for you. As the probable different shapes of a socket varies between countries, a portable plug adaptor may also be necessary. It can be purchased from travel stores (such as Franzus) or electronics stores in your local countries. Also you can get one in China.

Most electronics like computers, iPods or cell phones or kindles have a charger that works with either 110 or 220 volts. You just need an adapter for the different shape plugs when you travel.

Look at the adapter, it should say 110-220v or similar. It is in very small print on my phone charger.

100-220V always works, the only thing that differs is the amount of time it takes for your device to charge.
At 100V it takes almost the double of the time you would need using 220V outlets.
The only thing you HAVE to check is the frequency.
