About:China Visa Application in UK

visa requirements for an australian with permanent residence in Japan

Good afternoon.
I am an Australian. I have a permanent residence visa in Japan.
My friend (Japanese citizen) and I are flying to Nepal through Canton ( I am sorry that I can't spell the city's modern name).
We want to break our return journey for one night.
What visas do I need? Where do I apply?
Thank you,
Edward Irish.

So, you mean to visit Guangzhou (Canton) during the stopover, if yes, you can apply for a China transit visa in Japan from Chinese embassy or consulate.
