How to get a Chinese tourist visa from Tokyo for a French tourist?

Hi, I'm actually an exchange student in china, I have a visa X that ends on the 31th of July, but my flight back to France is on the 9th August. So I need a new visa. As I am visiting my aunt in Tokyo, I thought I could do my new chinese visa there. How should I do? Can I go by myself with all the document needed at the Chinese embassy or do I need to go through a travel agency? If that's so, can you give one name of a travel agency?
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, will you go back to study in China later after you come home? If so, you need to apply a X visa; if you won't come back to China after you come home, a L visa will do. you need to go through a travel agency. Sorry I can not figure out any travel agency in Tokyo, I think you'd better search on the internet or get the list from the embassy.

I went directly to China embassy for tourist visa application but they don`t accept applications for travelers without relatives in China. They asked me to go to a travel agency, this is the number: 0335711132. They have an office just next to the embassy on the left side. I don`t know the name of the agency but the building is Honma Cathay room 101. They only accept applications until 12:00pm. They also have an office in Ginza but I`m not sure about its location. I paid 9,250 yen fee including delivery charges. Hope it helps.

I agree with Skishue: you have to go to the travel agency just next to the consular section of the Embassy. I went earlier this morning and in my case i payed 8,000¥ (8,700¥ if you want the delivery to your place). I think the costs depend on your nationality (I'm Italian so probably you have to pay the same). I used to apply for Chinese Visa myself and it was cheaper and even faster. Now because the agency, the price is more than the double and it takes one more day (total 4, but you can have faster visa for an additional cost).
