Cable car up and down at Mt. Huashan, Xian

I am very interested to pay a visit, will go via cable car up and down. Once we reach the Cable car stations at the peak. It is a must to go thru climb Dragon Ridge and walking on the plank before we could get the down cable car station? As my kids are fear of hight, thus is it possible just view around the cable station and than take the cable car down?
