Will it be possible to apply China visa in Egypt even if my letter says it should be done in France?

My invitation letter for my Z visa says that I should apply for it in France because I have a French passport. However, I am a resident in Egypt since 2008 and would like to do it here. Will it be possible to do it in Egypt even if my letter says it should be done in France?
