which should I apply first for tourist visa to USA from Beijing..The visa or the airplane ticket?

I want a tourist visa for this summer to USA >< I am Chinese and need only 2 weeks in USA. But should I get airplane ticket first or wait until i get visa ?

I think you can apply for the visa first, since the air ticket is not listed in the requirements for a US tourist visa on the embassy's official website.
