Guyana Passport - Visa Needs for Less than 24 Hrs in BeijingÉ

I am on a Guyana passport and will be traveling from Canada to the Philippines in March 2015. One of the most direct flight routings is via Beijing. This is the proposed itinerary below:

I will be in Beijing for less than 24 hours but because of the different airlines I am not sure if they have a code sharing agreement and if my bags will be checked right through and if I will only be in the transit area of the airport or have to leave to pick up my bags and come back in ... can anyone let me know if I need to apply one for this proposed itinerary above?
