About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

I am Australian citizen and hold Australian passport Do I need a visa for a one day visit to Beijing

Hongkong and China both daily visits.Entering whilst on cruise.

So, just like a stopover? You are not required visa to enter HK. If you intend to stay longer than 24 hours in Beijing, you need to apply a transit visa. If the transit time is less than 24 hours, no visa is needed and you can apply a stay permit.
