About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Can the embassy in Ottawa authenticate a Malawian birth certificate?

I have to have my two children's birth certificates notarized/authenticated by the embassy in Ottawa. My son was born in Canada, but my daughter was born in Malawi. Her birth certificate is Malawian. Can the embassy authenticate a Malawian birth certificate? I have had both the birth certificates notarized by a lawyer here in Halifax, N.S. I will then be sending them via courier to an organization in Ottawa, called, 'Golden Mile 2000 Travel Consultancy,' which will bring documents to the embassy on my behalf.

Hi Macdonald, the birth certificate should further be certified by the Legal Advisory Division of Department of Foreign Affairs of Canada (125 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Tel: 613-9950119) or the Secretaire de la Chambre des Notarires de Quebec (800 Place Victoria, Montreal,Tel:514-8791793). Then, Chinese embassy in Ottawa will accept application for anthentication. If you have questions, you may contact the embassy at 613 –7893434-232 Fax: 613-7891414
