About:Chinese Embassy in Australia
My wife and I are going on a cruise from Hong Kong via Shanghi, do we need visa's.
We will be in Hong Kong 4days Shanghi 1 day from cruise ship

You need to apply for China tourist visa, a single entry visa is enough if you only stop once in Shanghai.
