About:Chinese Embassy in Mozambique

Canadian Applying Abroad

Hi there,
I am a Canadian who is currently visiting Maputo. I left Canada in January 2012 and will be travelling for 11 months. I plan to visit near the end of my travels - in October 2012 - and need to obtain a tourist L. Can I do that in Maputo now (5 months before) at the embassy with a Canadian passport, or do I need to wait until 3 months before. As well, how much would it cost and what exactly would the process be? I believe I only need a single entry but it needs to be valid for 30 days (October 1, 2012-October 31, 2012).
Thanks!

I advise you apply for an L in Hk about one month or just before your entry. The fee is 200 HK dollars if you will just apply for a single-entry one. You can just walk into the office during the working hours to apply for it in person or entrust a travel agency such as travel Service Hk limited.

Hi Linda,
If HK stands for Hong Kong I do not even know if I will be travelling through there. I need to apply as soon as possible since the group I am with is a group of Americans and they already have received theirs almost a year before our travel (I was the only one turned down for a multiple entry one since it was so far ahead of time). I will be in South Africa in July so I guess I'm wondering if it will be better to wait until South Africa and apply then or if I can do it while here for the next 2 weeks?

A single entry tourist L is valid only for 3 months after issue, so the optimum time to apply for it is in September or late August. If your multi entry was refused before, you'd better apply for a single or double entry instead. It may not be good if you apply in South Africa in July. Try other country if possible.

Doesn't the three months of validity begin after the first date of entry? So if I got it in July or June they could make it valid beginning October 1st rather than July 1st and then I would have no issues with it ending before I leave at the end of October and could get one in South Africa?

No, 3 months validity begins the date it is issued, it is good for 3 months for entry. For example, you have your L ready on July 1st, it is only good for use to enter on and before October 1st. it expires if you never use it within these 3 months.

So as long as I enter before October 1st then it would be okay or does it have to be valid through to the day I leave as well?

3 months validity is only the time limit for entry. After entry you can stay for 30 days or more according to the number written on it as "Duration"
