You can easily find many shopping malls within walking distance from Sanyuanli Avenue Baiyun, but there is no famous attractions at that area. It is generally safe to walk on the street during the day. Well, it is also convenient and safe for you to go to Sanyuanli subway station to take subway around the city.

Hi Able, you can go shopping in Gui Hua Gang, where there are lots of leather markets selling handbags, purses, fashion accessories, etc. As to tourist attractions, I can't think of any famous one near sanyuanli except Sanyuanli anti-British memorial hall. But Sanyuanli is very close to the subway, and it is suggested that you take the subway and travel around.

Many Malaysians like stay near Sanyuanli, especially small business people. It's safe and just one stop from GZ metro station. From Sanyuanli you can go to the airport by stopping at Jiehewanggang station (only RMB7). People buy leather goods from there. In case you want to go to other places, takr mrtro train from GZ Line 1, you can stop at Beijing Lu and Shangxiajiu walking street shoppig malls.
