can I obtain a visa from Chinesese Consulate in the US.  What documents do I need to have???

yes, you can apply for China visa in US with your original and a photocopy of certificates for permit for residence, and US student visa. Other documents needed are your passport, photo, China visa application forms V2011A and V2011B. If necessary, return ticket and hotel reservation are required. So, better prepare beforehand.
