About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Family travelling to China on Z Visa and accompanying family members:

We are US Citizens and my husband is coming to China on Z Visa in June. Our two children and I are planning to come as accompanying family members in August. He is working outside of Beijing and wants to have a small place close to work but we would like to live closer to the city. Can we live in separate residences/have two residences?

Thank you Melissa. Will I need to do anything differently by setting up a different residence? I read I need to register with local police department. Is that easy to do?

1.You and your husband can both apply for residence permit at the public security authorities of your husband's residing place within 30 days of entry into China.
2. Then you can use this residence permit to live in other city. This would not be hard, so do not worry!
3. To remind you, you can not work in your living city in China, since you just have an accompanying Z visa.
