About:Chinese Embassy in South Africa

Visit to Beijing, Shenzhen.

I am a South Africa staying in South Africa and have booked tickets to Hong Kong for 1st of June, returning 23d of June. I will be staying at a friend in Shenzhen. Do I need a visa? If so, does he need to write an invitation letter for me? thanks

1. Although you do not need a visa to enter Hongkong, since you will be living in Shenzhen, you need a Chinese L visa to enter mainland. L Visa Application in South Africa do not require invitation letter;
2. To remind you, if you will enter and exit Hongkong more than one time, a double-entry visa is needed. Multi-entry visa can only be permitted by the Embassy on applicant's particular situation, you can have a try.
