New Zealander travelling from Melbourne to Taipei via GuangZhou

Hi,
I have an NZ passport and lives in Melbourne. I am flying with China Southern airline to Taiwan end of this month and will have 5.5 hours transit in GuangZhou. While I do not intend to leave the airport during that time, do I need to apply for a transit visa? Thanks!
