Renewed passport for visa application

Hi,
I am currently based in Vietnam and will be applying for China visa for biz trip that is sponsored by my employer. I have all my documents ready and received the notification letter from China govt with my passport number specified on it. I have my flight sched back to Phil the day the noti letter was released so I decided to lodged my visa app on my return instead. I had my sched for passport renewal in the Phil and was able to received it timely before my flight back to Vietnam. Can i still use those documents to apply with my renewed passport? The problem in Philippine passport is that the passport number changes every renewal.
