About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Visa application sent via Express post to Chineses Embassy in Canberra on 12/4/2012

We have tried ringing on many occasions from 2-4pm with no success the phone rings out on-one answers. We are becoming anxious as our trip is due on 5 May. We have also sent e-mails however any e-mails that we have sent have not been responded to. We have also sent them a fax not sure transmission was o.k but have not received our visa back. Is this normal? It's very frustrating when you can't speak to an officer to dind out where the visa is at and our situation, what can we do? Can we organise a courier to pick up such as Toll Visa direct? Or must we travel to canberra to pick it up? How long would it take for it to be processed if we go direct to Canberra?

Did you submit the visa application through mail? Only you are ACT, South Australia, North Territory residents under special situations when you are unable to apply in person, can the embassy accept your mail-in visa application.

Mail application needs 10 working days for processing. There is the possible that your visa is in the process.

I strongly advise you go to the embassy in person to apply for the visa. Or if it's not convenient for you, you may entrust a visa/travel agent or a friend on your behalf. In this way, it only takes 4 working days and there are also express service for the second day or the third day pick-up.

Yes, we send through mail as we live in South Australia. Is there an authorisation form that i need to fill out for my friend to go to Canberra to pick up? We are due to leave on 5 May and I still can't get through to the Embassy for any progress.

You don't need to fill in an authorisation form if you want to ask someone else to pick up your visa. In fact, I'm confused by you, if you send your visa application by post, the embassy will mail back your visa and passport after it is processed, did you enclose the mail back envelop and the visa fee and handling service fee when you mail your visa application to Chinese embassy in Australia?
