I have a Mexican passport but study in USA. I plan to visit China with a group of my USA university students led by a professor to China May 13-24, 2012 for 12 days. My Mexican passport expires on Oct. 11, 2012, I arrive in China on May 14, and leave China on May 24, 2012. It is OK? Please let me know since it is too late for me to get my Mexican passport renewed now. Thank you.

I think you have to renew your passport first. Even if you apply for the China visa now, there will be less than 6 months validity left on your passport. Your visa application will be possibly refused by the China Embassy or consulate.
