What can I do if I lost my former Chinese passport? (currently an US citizen)

I want to apply for a Visa to China. I currently carry an America passport. First time applying I would need my Chinese passport, but I lost it. What can I do now?

You can provide other documents to substitute your previous Chinese passport, such as the document to prove that you immigrated to America, birth certificate, previous Chinese ID card, etc
