It's hard to get Chinese citizenship, since you know China itself has a large population. Immigration rule of China is very strict. Only those who have lived in China for a continous 5 years will be granted a D resident visa. However, very few people are able to achieve this status. Even if you were given a D visa, it's not to say that you have been Chinese.
To apply for Chinese nationality, it seems that it's only possible for those who have made massive investments which have generated substantial profit to China and have good connections with the establishment.
