About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Visa requirement - transit, tourist, or not required?

I will be travelling from the Krygyz republic to sydney on an australian passport by on china southern air via Urumqi and Guangzhou. If i don't leave the airports, do i need any visa? if i overnight in Guangzhou, do i need a visa? if I need a visa, what sort? and to whom do i apply? thanks in advance for your help.

So, you will transit in two cities of China, if these two transits are within 24 hours without leaving the airports, no visa is required. The only thing you need to do is to get a Stay Permit at China Immigration Inspection during your first stop. The immigration will get your passport stampted. Otherwise, you need to apply for a transit visa in advance from Chinese embassy/consulate where you live.
