You may just apply for a China tourist visa to sat with your son for some time. You need to prepare the documents below for the visa application:
1. your Canadian passport
2. a completely filled visa application form
3. invitation letter from your son in China with copies of his passport, Chinese residence permit and birth certificate
4. round-trip air ticket
The visa fee is CAD 50.
