About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Z Visa and residence permit

I work for a musician who has a Z visa (0 entry). Since he needs to get a residence permit when he arrives in China will he be able to travel to Taipei then back to Beijing?

After he get the residence permit of China, he can exit and entry China for unlimited times with the residence permit within its validity.
