Schengen visa processing time

I am living in Edmonton of Alberta in Canada right now. But I will come back to China on Mar 26. The type of visa I need is Schengen visa (Apr14-Apr22). I will go to Barcelona in Spain in April to attend the International Liver Congress for this year. But before that I will go to Paris for travel from April 14 to April 17. And I will departure from Paris to Barcelona on April 17 and attend the meeting between April 18 to April 22. The main purpose of this whole trip is for the international congress and I will stay in Barcelona for most of the time. Therefore, I hope I can get the Schengen visa issued through Spanish embassy to cover the whole trip. But the problem for me is my canada visa has expired although I have valid work permit. Therefore, I need to apply for canada visa first when I come back to China on Mar 26. But I heard of that I need to make an appointment with Spanish consulate or embassy? But how could I get an emergency appointment? And how many bussiness days they need to process my application? And if I could get the appointment with Spanish embassy in Beijin on Apr 2nd I will appreciate you very much. Thank you very much.

It seems that no appointment is requried by the Spain Emabssy in China. The maximum period for processing short stay (Schengen) visa applications is fifteen calendar days from the date the application is submitted. However, the rule is always changing, you'd better confirm with the embassy directly through phone:+86 10 6532 3629 or email: maec.es|emb.pekin
