Trouble Contacting Embassy

I have a visa application in process at the Canberra Embassy. It has been there for approximately 10 days ( i opted for express, however was advised later that for this month it will still take 10 days). It is simply for a tourist visa this time however i have been to China 4 times and on Business visa before. I am due to leave on the 27/03/2012 (next week) I am desperately trying to contact this embassy to see the progress however have had no such success (no-one answers the phone). Is it advisable to visit Canberra in the next day to pick up passport directly? i am left in the dark here and have no way to contact embassy! help please.

The telephone Inquiry Hours of the Consular & Visa Office of the China Embassy in Canberra 14:00-16:00 Monday-Friday (except holidays). Try to call them during this period of time again.

Personally, I advise you go to the Embassy in person to check the exact information about your visa, since your departure date is so approaching.

Hi Sarah,

thanks for info but i have literally tried calling them almost 200 times within the last week, and within these times as I have already been advised that these are their opening hours, yet still the phone always rings out. I would happily go to pick up my Visa, however it would be convenient to at least get some sort of communication from them. I don't understand why there is no one picking up the phone.

Yeah, it is always hard to get contact with the China Embassy by phone. Lots of travelers have the same experience as you, but no way. If it is not convenient for you to go to the embassy in person, you may also send someone else.

I have been having the same problem, why have a branch when noone answers to your email enquiry or phone calls - it's frustrating when you can't speak to an officer to check where your Visa is at! They need to have a better customer service system in place. We can't even make a complaint to anyone, no body there to answer your call!
